Mano-Malik committee talks to continue

The four-member committee appointed by President and Prime Minister to work out areas where both the executive and legislature could work in consensus met on Monday and after consultations agreed to continue discussions while the President and Prime Minister met in the course of this week in this connection again, informed sources said on Monday.

The committee which includes the Advisor to President Mano Tittawella, UNP chairman Malik Samarawickrema, Secretary to President W. J. S. Karunatillake and Secretary to Prime Minister Bradman Weerakoon which commenced sittings around 10.30 a.m. Monday morning decided that more time was needed if they were to reach a consensus on modalities to work together in the nationís interest for progress in key areas of economy and peace, the sources said.
