Drunkards in teledramas
Hardly a day passes without a teledrama being shown depicting a drunkard in a major role. Is enacting such loathsome conduct essential in presenting a good story? In as much as liquor addicts are plentiful in our society - (fast slipping into decadence) seeing their drunken behaviour on television is abhorrent. As at present, I feel such scenes are as stale, as much as they are detestable.
My concern is about the import such drunken scenes have on
the millions of children who watch such teledramas. In their young
impressionable minds they may feel that inebriated misconduct is acceptable
in decent society. If there is anyone with authority who decides on morally
acceptable standards in teledramas I suggest that he should address his mind
to this problem, with a view to reducing scenes to a minimum.
