CBK determined on different head for Polls Commission

President Chandrika Kumaratunga is likely to take advantage of the forthcoming change in the top post in the Constitutional Council (CC) to alter the composition of the Elections Commission.

The CC will meet soon after the parliament elects the new speaker who automatically will be the council’s chairman. The house will meet on Thursday (22).

"She plans to get rid of the commission’s chairman—elect retired Supreme Court Judge Ranjith Dheeraratne," a well informed source said.
