The Asian Aviation Centre [AAC] held their
Annual Academic Awards ceremony for the seventh consecutive year
at the BMICH on August 28, 2004.
The occasion was graced by several eminent
personalities such as the former Commander of the Air Force and
the Present Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority Air Vice
Marshal P. H. Mendis as chief guest and the Course Director
Engineering Degree Program in Kingston University, UK Dr. Peter
Brarrington as guest of honour.
Addressing the gathering Air Vice Marshal P. H.
Mendis said he was confident that there will be a growth in
domestic aviation which will require pilots and engineers.
Air Vice Marshal Upali Wanasinghe said that this
years presentation 219 awards were given which is an increase of
about 80 awards over the last year.
This ceremony is an important event for you as
the academy publicly confirming your examination and that you
have met the standard set. He also stated that the AAC was
convinced that the students are ready to take the next step in
their career. Aviation being a specialized field requiring
strict discipline and precision, the awards ceremony was based
on these important fundamentals.’
