The Outward Bound Professional Training develops
capacities of mind, body and spirit to better understand ones'
responsibilities in the broad schemes of things. It helps
participants to broaden their perception of the scope of their
duties and responsibilities and equip them with knowledge and
skills to exercise their managerial duties effectively.
Sri Lanka Business Development Centre (SLBDC) in
collaboration with the Outward Bound Trust (OBT) conducted an
Outward Bound "Weekend Challenge" training programme for the
officers of Lion Brewery Ceylon Ltd. from September 17-19 at the
Village Habarana.
The participants who are exposed to outdoor
activities and management games develop leadership skills,
improve their team spirit and inter personnel effectiveness. It
is a form of learning that brings people together from one
experience to another, from one way of life to another. The
participants discover their hidden talents and overcome their
self imposed limits and develop confidence to meet challenging
situations. This programme was successful and the participants
had this to say about their experiences.
"The focus of the training was very good. It
helped to create a lot of understanding amongst the members of
the team involved. Facilitating was good by the
trainers/instructors. A lot of precaution was taken to minimize
the risk to participants in terms of physical injury. The
programme helped to create very stimulating discussion amongst
the team members with regard to team building and communication.
In order to improve the programme they should have more team
building events through real life situations being simulated.
Will recommend it to everyone".
