Suntel expands to southern coastal areas of Sri Lanka

Suntel who has a committed goal to expand their network to rural Sri Lanka in the coming months, created another milestone in their vast expansion program when they launched in Ambalantota, in the Hambantota district. This important landmark comes at a time when a call was made by the Post and Telecommunication Minister D. M. Jayaratne to connect the masses. Suntel awaits the approval from TRC on their proposed expansion plan which will enable them to provide low cost telecom services to the rural community of Sri Lanka.

As a responsible corporate citizen dedicated to developing the areas they expand to, Suntel celebrated the launch with the people of Ambalantota by donating a rain water harvesting tank to the Rangiri Viharaya located in the Ambalantota town. The Rain Water Harvesting tank will benefit the Ambalantota area which goes through severe droughts during several periods of the year. The tank that will be constructed in the next few months will service around 200 - 300 people on a daily basis. This donation is a first step taken by Suntel who intends to take this rain water harvesting initiative to several other locations within the Hambantota District.

Suntel also took Ambalantota’s commercial metropolis by storm with a colourful street promotion that set the town abuz, with residents hailing to take part in various competitions.
