IDFR Malaysia selects Sri Lanka for study tour

Twenty Mid Career Diplomats and officials from Malaysia, Croatia, Russian Federation, Cambodia, Siberia and Senegal who are following the MA programme in Diplomacy and Foreign Relations at the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) in Malaysia, have this year selected Sri Lanka for a study tour. They are visiting Sri Lanka from 3-8 October, 2004.

They visited the Foreign Ministry on 4th October, accompanied by the director and members of the academic staff of the IDFR and met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prof. Wishwa Warnapala and senior officials.

The Deputy Foreign Minister briefed the visiting diplomats on Sri Lanka’s Foreign Policy and the efforts being made by the Government to resolve the conflict in the North and East of Sri Lanka.

The Director of the IDFR Halim Saad in his speech announced that from next year a Sri Lankan Foreign Service Officer would be offered a placement in the MA Programme in Diplomacy and Foreign Relations at the IDFR in Malaysia.
