Army Commander Lt Gen Shantha Kottegoda yesterday categorically denied reports that Army’s Long Range Reconnaissance Patrols (LRRP) had been disbanded. He said their existence is very essential and these men were still being trained. The Army Commander expressing anger and disbelief said " I am not mad to do such a thing " .....

BANGALORE, India, Oct 10 (Reuters) - Australia crushed India by 217 runs in the first test to take a 1-0 lead in the four-match series on Sunday despite defiant batting by the Indian tail-enders on the final day.

Australia dismissed India for 239 in their second innings 40 minutes after lunch, having set an imposing victory target of 457 on Saturday and then reduced them to 105 for six overnight.
