Colombo Basketball Club walked away with the
prestigious Colombo Super League Basketball Championship when
they convincingly beat Wattala Basketball Club in the grand
final worked off at the Depot Police Courts in Bambalapitiya on
Friday. It was a stunning display by the Colombo cagers who
dominated the game right from the beginning and won quite
convincingly by 15 points. There were more reasons to cheer for
the Nugegoda based side as their female counterparts, playing
under the name of Track Master won the women’s ‘A’ Division
competition by 10 points. Earlier their junior team, Nugegoda
Cagers had won the men’s ‘B’ Division title. All three teams are
managed by national basketball coach Ajith Kuruppu.
The packed crowd at the Depot Police courts were
expecting a close game with the two premier teams in the island

the Wattala cagers had a poor day on the court.

first quarter and by half-time were comfortably placed with the

managed to keep pace with the Colombo players the lead they had
conceded in the first half proved to be too costly. Colombo won
67-52.
