by Norman Palihawadana

The LTTE’s Jaffna political wing leader Illanparithy has told police and army chiefs in Jaffna that the LTTE wants to preserve the ceasefire at a discussion the LTTE, armed forces and the police held at the Jaffna SLMM office on Tuesday (21).

He has also said the LTTE is interested in the exchanges of views between the government and the rebels to reopen peace talks. Jaffna Commander Major Gen Sunil Tennekoon, SSP Wanaguru and Jaffna Navy’s Captain Jagath Ranasinghe took part in talks. The talks had been conducted in a cordial atmosphere and the LTTE representative had promised not to break the ceasefire agreement, security force sources said.
