NSB throws life belt to disaster-hit housing creditors

The NSB has decided to throws a life belt to tsunami victims carrying housing loans with the bank by offering them a relief package, the bank said in a news release.

"As your family bank, NSB wants to make the best effort to assist those who miraculously survived. That’s why we’ve decided to offer relief on housing loans," NSB General Manager Eastman Narangoda said.

Those affected carrying NSB housing loans have been requested to submit information about their destroyed houses and properties to the nearest National Savings Bank Branch, Postal Banking Branch or to the Credit Division of NSB Head Office.

"In the absence of the original applicant, an immediate family member or a close relative will be eligible to request for special relief. Further information on relief on housing loans can be obtained by the above-mentioned NSB network and will be offered, based on the information received."
