individuals," he said in an open letter to Singaporeans.

month and in March to raise funds for Sri Lanka's relief and
reconstruction programmes," he said expressing his gratitude for
their exceptional gesture of friendship.
Jayaratne further said in his letter that the
people of Singapore can help us in our renewal efforts by

see for themselves how their assistance and support have been of
immense value in our crisis.
"On leaving you to return home in due course, I
will take with me the memories of your remarkable spirit of
generosity and true friendship which have been source of great
comfort to all of us in Sri Lanka. Thank you, Singapore," he
