Inter Health Partners, an organisation based in
Canada, has donated medicines worth 1.5 million Pounds through
the assistance of eight pharmaceutical companies in the United
Kingdom for the benefit of tsunami victims in Sri Lanka and
Maldives.
Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner in UK, Faiz
Mustapha and his Maldivian counterpart Shabeer Hussain were last
week invited to inspect the consignment, prior to being shipped
to the two countries.
Meanwhile, 200,000 Pounds have already been
raised through the initiative taken by Mrs. Amina Mustapha, wife
of the High Commissioner, to build an orphanage in Komari under
the auspices of Mrs. Sugandi Kadirgamar, President of the Seva
Vanitha Unit of the Foreign Ministry.
All donations raised in the UK will be channelled to the
Sunami Foundation in Sri Lanka for this purpose.
