Not us, says World Vision

World Vision Sri Lanka says last Sunday’s front-page article Govt. says no to NGO choppers, "is totally false fabricated, malicious and a cheap attempt to mislead the government and the general public".

The article that identified World Vision Sri Lanka as one of the consignees has caused "serious damage to the good name and reputation of World Vision", the organisation said.

Its National Director Yu Hwa Li said, "We deny all allegations and wish to reiterate that we have not and will not under any circumstances obtain private helicopters or any other aircraft, to assist tsunami disaster relief activities. We are fully aware of this type of services available with the government of Sri Lanka and private operators, and will use such services if required in the future".

Editor’s note: We regret we did not obtain World Vision’s comment before publication.
