The Sri Lanka Independent Lawyers' Association will meet the
cost of the candidate's Deposit of Rs. 50,000/= for Mahinda
Rajapakse, the Presidential Candidate of the People's Alliance.
The Central Committee of the Association held a meeting, on
September 21, 2005, at the Temple Trees and unanimously decided
to grant this amount.
The matter was suggested by Colombo District representative
Bandula Wellala. It was unanimously approved by all the 150
lawyers present there. The money was pooled and the total of Rs.
50,000 was collected then and there.
The deposit is to be credited to the Elections Department, in
support of the nomination of Mahinda Rajapakse.
