Sabeetha celebrates birthday at the "Whok".

It was lunch time happening at the "Wok", the Chinese speciality restaurant of the Colombo Hilton. There was a plenty of style around as there were only three men present with one of them being her husband Upali. Sabeetha, now Jayasinghe is better known as Sabeetha Perera, who is among the glamour set of film and television stars. In an unusual outfit which consisted of a slim white skirt with a border of fuschia at the hemline was embroidered in a small blue paisley pattern. The poncho style top which had a bias cut hemline had the fuschia borders at the edge of the sleeve, which created the impression of a shawl. An exquisite blue sapphire pendent which had the stones shading from deep blue to a paler hue, was a birthday gift from her husband, she wore with delicate drop earrings.

Among the others gracing the event was Kumari Mallimaratchi in a stylised georgette in the palest hue of lilac. The bateau neckline, hemline and edge of sleeves, had a single row of sequins. Her pants were in a pale grey and she wore no jewellery except for earstuds. A long cross over coat style kurta in white had the softest suggestion of pink and green on it, for Chamari Jayaratne to wear with a citres green dupatta. An antique looking necklace in Matara diamond like stones and two grey pearls made her ornament. A red skirt with lines of sequins on it Nandanie Atapattu wore with a top that had double strap, and was in fiers of white, with the flared fiers following down the sides to make a new line and look. Among the young was Rishini Weeraratne in a pink princes line bustier top, teamed with a mildly flared skirt, while Gowrie de Silva had her cutaway armholed top printed in a floral design in pink and green on a sand toned background, picked out in sequins, teamed with deeper camel toned pants. Among the other guests were Himali Nanayakkara, Kushani Gankanda, Sharika Weeraratne, and several others who made their own statements of fashion.
