Two navy officers were killed by a claymore bomb while they were engaged in search operations at Suruwil, Kayts in Jaffna.

The two navy officers with other officers were engaged in search operations when a claymore bomb set by the LTTE went off killing the two navy officers and injuring another.

Soon after the blast the Navy and the army were engaged in search operations around the area but were unable to arrest any suspects.
