A provincial correspondent, of the Tamil
newspaper ‘Sudar Oli’, Suhiradaraja was shot dead by a LTTE
pistol gang at Trincomalee yesterday (24) morning, police said.
The correspondent an employee of the Trincomalee
Port was also wroking part-time for the newspaper as a
correspondent.
Police said a LTTE pistol gang cadre had shot
him on the head at close range when he was heading towards the
Tricomalee Town yesterday morning.
The assailant had fled after shooting the
correspondent. The LTTE was now targeting media men working for
newspapers that support rival Tamil political groups in the
North and East, police said.
