
With the death toll rising to nine in the
attempted LTTE suicide attack on Army Commander Tuesday (25)
afternoon, authorities at Colombo Military Hospital and Colombo
National hospital on Wednesday (26) morning finalized the
identification process of the dead and the injured, many of who
are receiving treatment at Intensive Care Units.
An LTTE woman suicide bomber, entering the
premises as a fake pregnant woman blew herself up near the
Military hospital entrance on Tuesday (25) afternoon at about
1.30 p.m. when the Army Commander was proceeding for his lunch.
The suicidal blast excluding the bomber has as of Wednesday (26)
afternoon caused nine deaths. Twenty-seven Army and civil
personnel received injuries in the explosion.
