Dankotuwa Porcelain Limited (DPL) which entered the Indian market in 2004 with a branch, and a showroom in the Sri Lanka EDB’s Trade Centre in Chennai, is making strong inroads into the Indian hotel market.

The whiteness and the quality of the Dankotuwa products have impressed Indian hoteliers. Dankotuwa is geared in making the requirements of the hotels with its Logo and any special surface decorations.

Dankotuwa Porcelain Ltd., is also planning to have franchised stores in other parts of India and have already started one in Bangalore and is negotiating for another one in New Delhi.

"With the strong economic growth in India coupled with the increase in the sophistication of India’s middle class and fact that the Indian market prefers heavy decorations which Dankotuwa excels at, we see a great future in India" said Dankotuwa Porcelain Limited Chairman/Managing Director, Sunil Wijesinha.

Dankotuwa Porcelain hopes to launch some new designs in India soon and carry out other promotional activities.

"The fact that our porcelain does not use animal bone ash is a strong selling feature in the Indian market" said DPL’s Chief Operating Officer, Sarath Mallawa Arachchi.
