BBC’s double standards |
|
Anyone who has been following the
BBC news would have realised how biased its coverage of events
is. Its stance on the Sri Lankan conflict has been well known
for decades. Therefore, I will restrict myself to the latest
suicide bombing that took place recently in Colombo. Readers
will recall the recent bombings that took place in other parts
of the world destroying innocent lives. The Madrid train
bombing, the numerous bombings in Israel and Iraq. Remember the
London underground train and bus bombings. They were either
remote controlled bombs (like the claymore mines set off by the
LTTE terrorists group) or suicide bombings, also akin to those
used by the LTTE terrorists group. However, while all those who
perpetrated such barbaric acts were referred to as ‘terrorists’
, the BBC euphemistically refers to the LTTE as ‘rebels’. Is a
woman suicide bomber entering the Army Hospital at the Army
Headquarters and detonating herself a ‘rebel’ or a ‘terrorist’?
It would be enlightening should the BBC explain the
difference between a ‘rebel’ and a ‘terrorist’.
