Hitting the nail on the head
The Island newspaper gives a wealth of information on current topics of interest. In this article I wish to focus on one of its pull-outs viz. "World View". I have read with interest some of the articles published by two of India’s leading newspapers, namely, The "Hindu" and the "Times of India", reproduced in The Island. The articles were titled. "Outrageous Attack" and "Tiger Tantrum", which appeared in the "Hindu" and "Tame the Tiger" in the "Times of India". These articles appeared recently.

They were the views of two eminent Indian journalists. These informative articles give an insight to the wide knowledge of the journalists concerned on the ethnic conflict prevailing in Sri Lanka for close on three decades. The articles are unbiased and give the reader the facts in a clear perspective, which should be edifying for their countrymen, while hitting the nail on the head for Sri Lankans.

These thought-provoking articles may also have caught the eyes of Sri Lankans of LTTE persuasion and make them rethink. How could one sympathise with a terrorist organisation, which is without an iota of human compassion?

These articles may not be to the liking of Karunanidhi and Vaiko, political personalities in Tamil Nadu, who are said to be hand in glove with the LTTE.

Meanwhile, credit should go to the editor of The Island for featuring foreign articles of topical interest, particularly themes having immediacy for Sri Lanka.
