Kebitigollawa: A home guard of Shravalkanda
refugee camp was shot dead recently. The shooting had taken
place at about 11.30 p.m. on the night of May 10.The home guard,
N. G. K. Wijeratne is a father of two children.
Police said that when Wijeratne, of regiment No.
7752 returned home after his duties a person using a T-56 rifle
had shot him.
Police found some T-56 cartridges in his garden.
According to Wijeratne’s brother, N. G.
Premadasa, his younger brother who was shot dead had no enemies.
"This is a job executed by the Tiger terrorists, and they had
taken away his T-56 rifle too",he said.
"There is no proof for us to put the blame on
the Tiger terrorists," said police Sgt. Dassanayake of the
Kabitigollawa police.
The officers attached to the Weli-Oya army camp, the Padaviya
Police and officers of the Kebitigollawa police headquarters are
conducting injuries.
