Employment Development Minister and Deputy Minister of Posts and
Telecomunications P. Rohitha Abeygunawardene said that Rs. 345
million has been allocated by the government for the benefit of
85,793 Samurdhi families in the Kalutara district.
Abeygunawardene disclosed these details at the
Samurdhi reliefs distribution for recipients in the Kalutara
district held at the Kalutara Provincial Secretaries auditorium
recently.
The Minister said that, the Rs. 5000 insurance
relief has been increased to Rs. 10,000 and the Rs. 1000 first
birth relief increased to Rs. 2500.
The Samurdhi Programme was launched for the
upliftment of poor families all over the country and in future
the Samurdhi recipients will join hands for the development of
the country under the 'Mahinda Chintanaya' , hesaid.
