There has been an exodus of villagers from the
Welikanda area after a number of attacks mounted on home guard
bunkers and civilians.
The LTTE attacked home guard bunkers of the
Ruhunuketha and Namalgama villages but after 13 civilians
working under a contractor in area were lined up with their
hands tied and gunned down by the LTTE Monday (29) some people
of these villages have fled in fear.
People in fear of further attacks by the LTTE
are getting ready to flee but the Army has strengthened security
in the area while police have issued guns to villagers for self
defence.
