Thief killed in shoot out

A person involved in several house
breaking robberies looting and other offences died of a gunshot
from the police recently while exchanging gun shots with a group
of police officers.
Police said that the dead person was a
30 year old man named Udugama Acharige Priyantha alias Diyawale.
On receiving information that the
suspect was in a house at Kirindiwela Meddagama aspecial police
vice sqad had gone there. At that moment the suspect was on the
roof of the house and he had started firing at the police
officers. Later on the police too started firing at the suspect.
Finally the suspect had fallen down with a gun shot injury.
The suspect who had severe injuries on
account of the gun shot died on admission to the Gampaha
hospital.
