An International Seminar on "Opportunities in
Aviation in Sri Lanka for the Next 5 years" was held recently at
the BMICH, Colombo. Minister of Ports, Aviation and Foreign
Mangala Samaraweera was the Chief Guest. He delivered the Key
Note Address.. to an audience of senior management personnel who
are Key players aviation related Industries and Businesses and
the State regulatory Authorities. This seminar was sponsored by
the Asian Aviation Centre, Colombo
Senior Officials of the Ministry of Aviation,
Tourism, Sri Lanka Air Force, Sri Lanka Tourist Board, Ministry
of Vocational and Technical training, and others including media
personnel were also present.
The Chairman of the Asian Aviation Centre and
Lionair Group of Companies & well known film producer - Chandran
Rutnam delivered the address of welcome and Air Vice Marshal
Upali Wanasinghe, Director Studies of the AAC delivered the Vote
G.S.Withanage Addl. Secretary, Ministry of
Aviation Chaired the Presentation Sessions.

Weerasinghe, Dy. Director – Asian Aviation Centre, Manoj
Gunawardane, Head of World Wide Passenger Sales, Sri Lankan
Airlines, who spoke on " Market positioning of Sri Lankan
Airlines in relation to Market Trends in the next 5 years"; Ms.
Prasanthika Dissanayake , Asst. Director Sri Lanka Tourist
Board, spoke on "The highlights of the Sri Lankan Tourist
Industryin 5 years time". Jagath Alwis, Director (Technical ) /
Deputy Chairman of the Ceylinco Consolidated spoke on
"Innovative Insurance for Air Transport" and . N.T.Ariyaratne,
Consultant – National Human Resources Development Council
representing the Ministry of Vocational & Technical Training
spoke on " New dimensions in Vocational Training to meet the
skills demands of the Sri Lankan economy"
