LTTE mum on fall of Sampur
by Norman Palihawadana and Dilanth Wijenayaka

LTTE spokesman Daya Master declined to comment on reports that the LTTE had lost Sampur. When The Island contacted him yesterday, he said that what he heard was the Government statement which claimed Sampur was under Government control.

Asked about the Kilinochchi hospital and the wounded arriving there, he said information should be had from Kilinochchi with regard to the situation and medical supplies. He added that both the Government and the LTTE were not interested in a ceasefire agreement.

Meanwhile a spokesman of the Army said that it was understandable that the LTTE was not in a position to comment on the loss of Sampur. All their plans and schemes had gone awry. Their predicament is getting worse by the day with the security forces gaining ground and consolidating positions in all areas of conflict, he said.
