We were about to leave Sampur when attacked Tigers

The LTTE Sunday claimed that it was about to leave Sampur in Trincomalee south when security forces attacked the area.

The group said that they were in talks with Norwegian facilitators when the military launched an offensive.

"The LTTE was ready to move weapons from Sampur if the government ceased all shelling and aerial bombardments," the Tigers said.

"While the negotiations were in progress (through Norway), the government of Sri Lanka launched its onslaught for occupation."
