Riot police clash with protesters during anti-government strike

DHAKA, Bangladesh (AP) - Riot police used batons to break up a protest march involving hundreds of people in the streets of the Bangladeshi capital Sunday during an opposition-called general strike, witnesses said.

Police charged at about 300 protesters who tried to march through Dhaka's central Mahakhali district in support of the strike, according to an Associated Press reporter at the scene.

No one was reported injured. An alliance of 14 opposition parties called the dawn-to-dusk strike to protest
