George Steuart Recruitment (Pvt) Limited, a member of the George Steuart group recently celebrated 20 years in the overseas employment business by felicitating its employees at the Galadari Hotel.

Today the company has principals of high standing in the UAE, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Pakistan, Bahrain, Ghana, Malawi and Botswana.

The company has received the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment Gold Award for the highest number of skilled employees sent overseas in the only year that such an award was made.

Additionally, the company also received a Bronze Award for the Best Marketing Efforts at that function.

Assessing the increasing potential for employment particularly in the Gulf countries, George Steuarts recently set up a subsidiary, George Stuart Educational Services (Pvt) Limited, to provide tailor made courses in sales, marketing English and Korean languages to enhance the skills of Sri Lankans seeking jobs abroad.

The overseas employment business had grown significantly over the years justifying in 1993 the formation of an independent subsidiary, George Steuart Recruitment (Pvt) Limited, to handle this business.

Its growth was illustrated by the saying "from small acorns, grow great oaks," George Steuart Chairman S. Skandakumar said at the celebration thanking the management and the staff of the company for upholding the values and standards of George Steuarts at all times in achieving this expansion.

Group Deputy Chairman J.M. Wimalagooneratne paid special tributes to the companyís Executive Directors, Lalith Peiris (MD) and Nishantha Fernando (Finance Director) as well as the management and staff for the significant contribution made over the years.

Peiris with 40 years in the George Steuartís group proposed the vote of thanks and conveyed his heartfelt appreciation to his superiors, colleagues and staff for the support extended to him throughout his career with the group.
