Sri Lanka Air force fighter jets continued bombing missions yesterday in retaliation to LTTE attacks on Army positions.

Around 7.30 a.m., on information provided by intelligence sources, a Sea Tiger base in Mannar was pounded by the Air Force while at around 2.00 p.m. fighter jets bombed a training base of the LTTE, 11km away Kilinochchi, Military sources said.

Security sources denied the LTTE website TamilNet report that the SLAF bombs hit the Kilinochchi hospital. Military sources said 10 fishing boats, which were stranded in the Malavi-Pooneryn area reached Gurunagar with 46 fishermen carrying white flags. They had fled the area when fighting erupted between the security forces and the LTTE on August 11.

The Media Centre said ships manned by the Navy had transported 10,623 civilians from KKS to Trincomalee and vice versa since August 27. Food supplies and medicine is also transported using the sea route it said.
