The EPDP yesterday said that the
pre-condition laid down by the LTTE, at the failed Geneva talks,
that the A-9 Highway should be opened had an ulterior motive to
rake in funds for their own use rather than for the welfare of
the people using the highway."On the other hand the standing
of the Government genuinely reflects its concern for the general
public while foiling the LTTE of a financial build up at the
expense of the people", the EPDP said.
"The LTTE delegation should have tabled political solutions
aimed at putting an end to the ongoing war which would
automatically wipe out the day to day problems of the people.
The need of the hour for the LTTE is to cooperate with the
Government in every respect and honour the conditions laid down
by it and allow hassle free use of the A-9, in the event it is
re-opened," the statement added.
The EPDP urged the LTTE to act sensibly, honourably and with
responsibility to bring solace to all the people in this
country.
