The Victoria Golf Club and Country Resort, in association with SriLankan Airlines organized the Sri Lankan Airlines Golf Classic 2006, where over 300 golfers from many countries the world over participated. The tournament was held for four days at the beautiful Victoria Golf Course at Rajawella off Kandy.

Sam Gunaratne, and old boy of Vidyartha College, Kandy, did the hill capital and the country proud by winning the Best Aggregate Net score for men. He is seen receiving his trophy from the General Manager, Victoria Golf Club and Country Resort, Mike Varney.
