The finals and awards ceremony of the 17th
Junior National Squash Championship 2006, will be held this
Saturday at the Gymkhana Club Squash Complex from 4.00 p.m.
onwards.
Dr. David Ponniah, Warden of S. Thomas’ College,
Mt. Lavinia, will be the chief guest and Shammi Silva Chairman,
Gymkhana Club, the guest of honour at the finals and awards
ceremony.
Eranga Alwis of S. Thomas’ College, Mt. Lavinia
and Nirasha Guruge of Elizabeth Moir International, formerly of
Holy Family Convent, Bambalapitiya are expected to defend their
Under-19 titles they won last year.
The Sri Lanka Squash Federation plans to give
away attractive cash awards this year too and all those reaching
the semi-final stages will receive a cash award. In total, a sum
of Rs. 150,000/- will be given away as prize money at this
prestigious and much looked forward to event in the annual
squash calendar.
