6th Asian Youth Volleyball in Malaysia
India, Iran in finals

India and Iran were through for the finals from eleven teams participated at the 6th Asian Youth Volleyball Championships in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Iran overpowered Korea in the semis 3-1 and India vanquished strong China team after a tense semi final game 3-2.

Iran won the first round match beating the strong Koreans 25-19 and then Korea took their turn and beat Iranians 20-25 in the second round, levelling the score. Again Iran was dominating beating Korea and the score read 2-1, at the end of third round. In the 4th round Iran sealed their victory thrashing Korea 25-22.

In the other semis between India and China, the game was swinging between two sides and eventually India became winners.

At the time this edition went to press, the final was in progress between India and Iran.

Sri Lanka team beating Hong Kong in ‘grading matches’ for the 9th slot showed a slight improvement but in the match against Thailand, they lost to be finally placed 10th in the Tournament.
