No dissolution of Parliament till 2010 - Nimal Siripala
by Don Asoka Wijewardena

The government will not dissolve parliament till 2010 despite anti-government elements and conspiratory groups exerting futile efforts to topple the government. When the government is in the process of defeating the enemy, unpatriotic elements are attempting to sabotage the government's plans. Healthcare Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said in an interview with The Island.

Minister de Silva said during the governments of former Presidents J. R. Jayewardene, R. Premadasa, D. B. Wijetunge and Chandrika Kumaranatunge, political fanatics thwarted the settlements processes and put road-blocks. Opposition leader Ranil Wickremasinghe had once asked the government to remove Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapakse who possessed the ability to carefully plan security arrangements for the benefit of the security forces. The UNP leader knew that Defence Secretary Rajapakse would implement effective and strategic military planning to defeat the LTTE. The Opposition leader now discredits the government alleging human rights violations in the country to the international community.

He pointed out though ousted Mangala Samaraweera and Siripathi Sooriyaarchchi violated SLFP party policies President Mahinda Rajapakse gave them the benefit of the doubt. They had accused President Rajapakse that he gave money to the LTTE to win the general election.

The Minister said security forces had now captured 98% of LTTE held areas in the North and East and the government would be fully armed to face any type of conspiracy.
