An 18-year-old boy was knocked down and killed at a pedestrian crossing on the Malabe Athrugiriya Road. City Coroner Edward Ahangama yesterday held the inquest into the death of Bamunuvita Gamage Sisira Senaratne.

Police produced the suspect driver Chandrasena Rajapakse, who said while the victim who was riding a bicycle ahead of him, near a Poson dansala suddenly turned right and knocked the van on the left side resulting in the shattering of the windshield.

AJMO N. A. S. P. Wijeratne who held the postmortem stated that death was due to Cranio cerebral injuries.

The Coroner ordered Police to submit the vehicle to the scrutiny by the Examiner of Motor Vehicles.
