"Currently 50% of economic output is
value-added. The service sector contributes largely to economic
output. Therefore, innovative knowledge management is very
important for development in the world," said Dr. P S.
M.Gunaratne, Dean of the Faculty of Management and Finance at
the inaugural session of the conference.
Every four to five years, available
knowledge doubles in the world. India is substantially managing
knowledge well. The other countries in the region are lagging
behind. Some economies are referred to as knowledge-based
economies. An economy where knowledge is innovated, disseminated
and used for producing products and services is a
knowledge-based economy.
