As research shows, sound focus of any team
depends on three things, leadership, team cohesiveness and team
norms.
I strongly disagree with His Excellency the
President for calling the Sri Lanka cricket team to meet him the
day prior to the finals between Sri Lanka and Australia. Such a
meeting should have taken place only if they had won, and
meeting the President should have been at the cricket grounds
itself.
Also Mahela's more Western style may have failed
to motivate the team. As a Nalandian why can't be he more Sri
Lankan? Mahela's appearance with Kumar Sangakkara on TV ads for
coke could have negatively affected other team members. Is Sri
Lanka Cricket becoming more Western these days? We see Kumar
Sangakkara promoting himself in a outspoken.
What will happen to our Cricket team's other
members if only Kumar's photographs appear in every
advertisement depriving others of fame? Who is to be blamed?
Over to you chairman and appointed board of Sri Lanka Cricket.
Finally. I feel the Sri Lanka Cricket team is becoming more the
Team of the President than of Sri Lanka.
