It is understood that an attempt is being made (rumour
is that a Cabinet Paper has already been submitted), to appoint
certain retired SLAS officers to posts of Deputy Postmasters
General. At present, the Posts Ministry Secretary, who has to be
held responsible for the present postal mess, is a retiree on
service extension. Is this not an attempt to make the post
a home for the aged?
The appointment of retirees is contrary to
Public Administration circular No. 09/2007(111) of October 17,
2007.
On the other hand, the appoint of outsiders
(non-postal staff), to run the Postal Department (operations),
amounts to placing square pegs in round holes, making the postal
mess a bloody mess!
Perhaps, those with political blinkers on cannot
see what is happening!
