Jets strike LTTE senior cadres’ camp north of Yoda Wewa

The SLAF headquarters said that jets launched from Katunayaka had bombed an LTTE camp at Parappakandanthan, about five km north of Yoda Wewa yesterday morning.

The Air Force said the targeted base had been used by senior LTTE cadres directing operations against the army now engaged in ground operations on the Vanni front.

At Andunkulam, Weli Oya troops killed four LTTE cadres in two separate confrontations on Saturday. Troops also recovered a T-56 assault rifle during a search in the same area on the same day while at Kokkuthuduwai troops found 53 anti-personnel mines.   

At Pallaimoddai, Vavuniya troops killed seven LTTE cadres. Army headquarters said that 13 LTTE cadres had been killed in confrontations at Pallaimoddai, Mullikulam and Perankulam on Saturday. Of two soldiers wounded in action, one had succumbed to his injuries. (SF)
