Present status of Homoeopathy system of medicine

Homoeopathy is a science and art of healing discovered by a German physician, Dr. Christian Fredrik Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843) in the eighteenth century. The name of this system itself is now synonymous with sweet pill, and is one of the fastest growing complementary/alternate medical practices around the world. The public continues to use the medicines as a safe, effective and simple method of health care option for their ailments.

Presently people are becoming concerned about the adverse effects of chemical based drugs and the escalating cost of conventional health care. Longer life expectancy and lifestyle related problems have brought with them an increased risk of developing chronic, debilitating, diseases like heart diseases, cancer, diabetes, mental disorders etc. Although new treatment and technologies for dealing with them are plentiful more and more patients are now looking for simpler, gentle therapies for improving the quality of life and avoiding iatrogenic problems. As a result, the interest and popularity of Homoeopathy, is increasing globally.

Homoeopathy is currently used in over 80 countries throughout the world, mainly in Europe. It is also highly represented in America, India and Pakistan. The Homoeopathy Central Council Act 1973 grants recognition to Homoeopathy in India. Sri Lanka, Pakistan, UK etc. separate legislation legalizing Homoeopathy. Very recently the UAE and Kuwait has recognized Homoeopathy.

How Homoeopathy works

According to the principle s of Homoeopathy " Similar Similibus Curenture" the innermost depth of a disease is never really visible. All symptoms of a disease - physical, mental and emotional contribute to the entire picture. A homoeopath induces a similar disease showing similar symptoms by applying the appropriate Homoeopathic medicine.

The way of similar, the Homoeopathic way is to give the patient a minute dose of a substance, such as coffee, which in a large dose causes sleeplessness in a healthy person. Perhaps surprisingly this will enable the patient to sleep naturally.

Homoeopathic remedies cannot cause side effects and you cannot become addicted to them. This is because only a very minute amount of the active ingredient is used in a specially prepared form.
