LTTE cadres
arrested in A’puraby Percy
Kuruneru, Anuradhapura Cor.
Anuradhapura Police Monday night arrested two persons,
including a woman, at the Anuradhapura Railway station while
they were on board a train heading for Colombo.
Police suspect that the woman was an LTTE suicide cadre and
the young man a member of the LTTE intelligence wing. They had
boarded the train at Medawachchiya and were residents of
Mudaliyarpuram in Settikulam. They had told the Police they were
traveling to Colombo to go abroad.
The male was identified as Ramachandran Surendran alias
Kulendran aged 18 years. The woman was 25-year-old Polosingham
Jeyanthini alias Jeni.
When they were separately questioned by the Police the boy
had said that in 2004 he joined the LTTE and had undergone
weapons training at the Pullayarweli LTTE camp in Kilinochchi.
He had then worked for the LTTE intelligence wing under one
Maduraweeran.
Police said despite their lengthy questioning they were
unable to extract any facts from the woman and there was no
truth in the story they were Colombo bound with the intention of
going abroad.
They are being interrogated under detention orders.
