Delmege Super League BB Tournament
Big win for Ranawana

Ranawana & Company beat Commercial Bank by 11 points in a ‘B’ Division tournament match in the Delmege Super League Basketball Tournament, at Mercantile Cricket Association (MCA) Courts, on Tuesday. Ranawana were ahead 29-23 at the end of the first half. They scored 36 more points in the second half. The final score read 59-48 in favour of Ranawana.

S. Senanayake scored 18 points for Ranawana. He was supported by B. Perera who chipped in with 11 points.

K. Perera, fighting a lone battle, scored 17 points for Commercial.

Delmege Group beat Nations Trust Bank ‘A’ by 25 points in an ‘A’ Division tournament match worked off at Otter Aquatic Court, on Tuesday. Delmege dominated proceedings right from the beginning. They were ahead by nine points at the end of the first half and went to score 27 more points in the second half. The final score read 68-43 in favour of Delmege.

Roshan Randima, who was outstanding, scored 16 points for Delmege. M. Jayarathna top scored with 21 points for NTB.

Sampath Bank beat Akbar Brothers by 20 points in an ‘A’ Division tournament match, also played at Otter Aquatic Court, on Tuesday. Sampath were ahead 49-32 at the end of the first half. They scored 39 more points in the second half, to win 88-68. For Sampath, K. Shiran scored 19.

For Akbar, S. Jayarathna scored 34 points.

Pathum Munasinghe’s 21 points for David Peiris and Chamindra Fernando’s 25 points for Union Assurance were the highlights in the ‘B’ Division tournament match between David Peiris and Union Assurance, also played at Otter Aquatic Court, on Tuesday. The final score read 81-52 in favour of David Peiris.

In anther match, Union Assurance beat Amana Group by 17 points in a ‘B’ Division tournament match also played at MCA Courts, on Monday. Amana were ahead 35-33 at the end of the first half. Then they were stunned as Union Assurance came back fighting in the second half, to win 85-68. For Union Assurance, Isuru Perera scored 32 points while Aruna Wickramagae scored 31. For Amana, S. Fauzan scored 26 points.

Hatton National Bank beat SriLankan Airlines by nine points in a ‘B’ Division tournament match also played at MCA Courts, on Monday. HNB were ahead 32-29 at the end of the first half and then went to collect 36 more points in the second half. The final score read 68-59 in favour of HNB.

For HNB, C. Fernando scored 24 points. For SriLankan Airlines, M. Viraj scored 18 points.

David Peiris beat Hatton National Bank by 11 points in a Women’s ‘A’ Division semi-final match played at Otter Aquatic Court, on Monday. David Peiris were ahead 40-36 at the end of the first half and collected 41 more points in the second half, to win 81-70.

For David Peiris, A. Fernando, Kalpani Fernando, J. Wijerathna and Shakila Gomes scored 14 points each.

For HNB, K. Silva top scored with 27 points while Erandi Gallagae chipped in with 26.

Seylan Bank will take on David Peiris in the Women’s ‘A’ Division final while SriLankan Airlines will take on MAS Holdings in the Women’s ‘B’ Division final.
