The Plastic and Rubber Institute of Sri Lanka held its 38th annual award ceremony for its prize winning students recently at Trans Asia Hotel. The Awards night of the Plastics and Rubber Institute of Sri Lanka was held in the presence of representatives from Government and the Private sector.

The Plastic and Rubber Institute of Sri Lanka is a founding member of the Sri Lanka Society of Rubber Industry (SRI), which is the national association of polymer industry professionals established in 1960 as the local section of the Institute of the Rubber Industry in London.

The membership of the institute comprises of a wide range of professionals employed at technical, supervisory and higher levels in rubber and plastics industries in Sri Lanka.

The Plastic and Rubber Institute of Sri Lanka is a professional body for specialists concerned with the development of the art, science and technology of Plastics, Natural and synthetic Rubbers and other high Polymers. Course modules and training are offered in the areas of academic, research, technical, administrative, financial, sales and many other capacities at the PRISL.

Apart from organizing courses of studies, the Institute provides and manages scholarships, prizes and training grants for its students. They also maintain a highly equipped library and other educational and training aid that are concerned relevant to its various courses.  At the end of each year examinations are conducted and certificates are issued to students that successfully complete the course.

"The enthusiasm shown by the students and employees over the years on the courses offered by PRISL indicates the growing demand that exists for the polymer education in Sri Lanka. While the demand rises the Institute will continue to support the industry with the education and training it provides. A significant number of students successfully pass out of PRISL every year and this is fact that we take great pride in." Stated the President of PRISL at the Award ceremony.

The courses that certificates were awarded to at the awards night were Basic Course in Rubber Technology in Sinhala Medium and Diploma in Rubber Technology.
