* Fuel bill reaches Rs 97 billion
Govt. increase thermal power, expect more shocks

The unprecedented increase in power tariffs this month, due to spiralling cost of thermal power generation, has not deterred the government from reaching yet another USD agreement, this time with West Coast Power (Pvt.) Limited, to purchase power.
The Rs. 30 billion project to built a 300 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant at Kerawalapitiya, is expected to be completed in about 20 months.

Large crowds, including students, gathered at the BMICH to view the Colombo Medical Faculty exhibition, ‘Medics 2008’, which opened yesterday (27). The exhibits gave much information about the human anatomy and the advances of modern medical science. This exhibition took place after eight years and medical students explained the exhibits depicting anatomical surgical and medical and other branches of learning.
