S. Satyanandan, General
Secretary of the Tamil Democratic National Alliance, has complained to the
Court of Appeal that the Commissioner of Elections had made an
unreasonable decision when he rejected the nominations of his party,
seeking to contest the Provincial Council poll in the Eastern Province.
The petitioner had requested the Court of Appeal to postpone the poll
until this petition was finally determined and to direct the Commissioner
to accept the nominations of Satyanandan's party.
Among the respondents are the Elections Commissioner and thirty four
others.
The poll is at present scheduled for May 28, 2008.
