

Sri Lanka’s Beach Volleyball team left for Thailand early on Friday to take part in the Sameela Asian Beach Volleyball Tournament, which is considered the main Beach Volleyball tournament in the region.
Two men’s teams and one women’s team will represent Sri Lanka at the Championship, where 23 countries will vie for honours.
Dhammika Silva and Pubudu Ekanayake will make men’s number one team while Mahesh Perera and Dinesh Pradeep make up the men’s number two team.
Thakshila Niranjalee and W. Sujeewa make up Sri Lanka women’s team.
Dhammika Silva and Mahesh Perera are taking part in the Sameela Beach Volleyball tournament for the sixth consecutive year.
The four players represented Air Force until Perera and Pradeep joined Comfort Wear and that made the combinations to split as well.
Meanwhile Neranjalee and Sujeewa who have played in this tournament previously will come together for the first time.
The championship will be played in Songkhla which is situated 1000 kilometers south of Bangkok and the players will have to put up with a ten hour bus journey to reach the destination.
Prasanna Kumara will be the coach of the Beach Volleyball team. He will also be the manager of the team.
