One person named Athula Jayalath (40) was hacked to death over a land dispute at Meetiyagoda yesterday, police said.

Another who was injured in the clash had been hospitalised.

The murder suspect was absconding and a search party had been deployed to trace him, police said.

Meetiyagoda police is conducting further investigations.
